Farmhouse Home Decor Trends For 2022

In my home, I enjoy a good mix of decor trends, and one trend from which I get inspiration is classic and modern farmhouse themes. I love the patterns, textures and natural elements that farmhouse decor brings to a home and I find myself sprinkling bits and pieces of this trend throughout my humble abode. Trends are always fun to check out and see what may appeal to us or, in some cases, may not. I flipped through magazines, read online articles, and hopped around Pinterest, to round up some of my favorite farmhouse home decor trends for 2022 to share with you in this post. 1. ENGLISH-STYLE FREESTANDING CABINETS

The Brits often use freestanding cabinetry in the kitchen. It’s on feet and not mounted to the wall. While this look is timeless across the pond, it’s becoming a trend here

2. DARK GREEN KITCHEN CABINETS

Color has been creeping back into kitchens little by little over the last few years. It started with contrasting islands in all white-kitchens, or gray cabinets in lieu of white, and now cabinets are being drenched in saturated colors. While moody blues have been a big hit and will remain popular in 2022, the most of the moment shade is a dark green, a la this kitchen from House & Home

3. WALL PANELING

Shiplap spurned an interest in wall paneling years ago, and since then the look has evolved to more traditional paneling, like picture-frame molding and elaborate crown molding, and the famrhouse-inspired board-and-batten paneling (like in my entry above). I love this look because it makes an entire room feel more bespoke. Long live paneling.

4. Woven Baskets

You can’t throw a stone in a farmhouse-styled home without hitting a woven basket or wicker storage bin. The natural elements of wicker are perfect for pretty much any room in your home and work as stylish storage with a hint of nature.

5. CANE & RATTAN

Rattan and cane have been having a moment for a couple of years now, but I’m betting they’ll be even bigger in 2022 and for years to come. It’s classic, and incredibly versatile because it can read traditional, coastal, bohemian, and modern all at once. Go check your favorite home decor retailer and you’ll probably see at least half-a-dozen cane or rattan options: chairs, beds, settees, stools, benches. It’s all over the house.

6. WARMED-UP NEUTRALS

Cool gray tones are starting to feel dated in the way that “tan” walls feel like the year 2000. But warm gray walls? Now those are chic. Tones that border on warm taupe, gray-brown, or super pale warm grays are the newest neutral for walls.

7. Patterned/Textured Bedding & Throws

A cosy farmhouse bedroom includes plush pillows, quilted bedspreads, knits, throws and patterned duvets to tie this decor trend together. A more modern take would include quilted textures or furs, while a more traditional version would include detailed patterns, checkers or prints on the bedding and matching pillows. The addition of some fun labelled pillows will complete the look.

10. Wooden Decor

Wood is a common element in all farmhouse styled homes and bring warmth into any space. Look for beautiful wood cutting boards, message boards/signs, bowls, beads, framed mirrors, trays, candlesticks and light fixtures to spread this element throughout your farmhouse home.

11. Wood Walls & Ceilings

Wooden decorations are very popular right now, and depending on the finish, they can be rustic or modern. Wooden elements are very trendy right now, and depending on the finish, they can be traditional or modern. Make a bold statement with a dark wood-trimmed feature wall or highlight natural elements with bare barnboards. Exposed wooden beams are also a great way to incorporate a wood feature and make a statement, while painted wood trim works well for a more modern farmhouse fee
